For the tired body.

-Apparently there is a limit to how much physical punishment the body can take. I cannot for instance, stave off an encroaching flu bug while, doing a full body workout and work late hours at the same time. The fine balance doesn't call for a third weight.
-There is not much you can do if you're a workaholic who has been forced to stay at home, except get some much needed rest. Better one day at home than a week in the hospital, as a patient.
-Being a geek often means that you take up the responsibility of the knowledge you bear. This of course leads to the dependency from the uninformed and ignorant. The trick is not to wear yourself out when the simple hobby becomes a near obsession. Easier said than done when everyone seems to have problems all at once.
-Being sick has never taken my sense of taste away from me. I will still demand for good food, which is been a pain since I tend to cook for myself these days. Still, there is no better substitute for good food to pick you up especially when done right. I have my own beef stroganoff to testify to that.
-It's nice to know that regardless of what happens, encouraging words and someone willing to cover for you often works better than constant nagging advice and a critique that you need to do better. It's a choice we have to make on who we are willing to be around. It can mean the difference between a more optimistic mind and a much more tired body.

O is for ... Oh My God, What The Hell Am I Doing With My Life!

1.When life becomes routine and everything is set on autopilot, sometimes you have to remind yourself that there is a bigger purpose to life than just what you're doing now. Lest you end up being stuck in the same plot over and over again. Never going anywhere or amounting to anything.

2.If there is anything I don't like, is when there are spontaneous interruptions in my tight schedule. I don't see how some people can find that "a welcoming distraction"

3.When the end of a line approaches, is it alright to dread the consequences of your actions prior? Is it even alright to dread the beginning of a line in which you don't know where it ends?

4.In the face of all the worry, all the fear and all the doubt, there is a little dark hole in my head I crawl into to make everything go away. A place where I am abstained from everything that a person feels. Right now, I think I need to permanently put a bed and a coffee machine into that hole.

5.Some days, not even a generous helping of your favourite bourbon on the rocks can make your day feel any better. But it does always put things into perspective. When all is done and gone, it's always time to refill the glass. Over and over again.

A Little Bit of God, A Swig of Beer and Something about Relationships.

A few weeks, a close girlfriend of mine told me that she is going to leave her entire relationship in God's hands. Despite being the scientific agnostic at heart, I actually understood the whole term of leaving the entire relationship in God's ever fidgety hands, though I didn't actually think about it until today.

It turns out that some of the best laid plans in life, especially in regards to a relationship always starts in the best in being laid back. I'm going to let that soak into your head first.

Looking back at all the relationships that I have been before, it's pretty obvious that me being me, I can't never leave things alone. I am, by nature, a person who continuously tweaks and pushes something until it either becomes the best … or it breaks. Unfortunately when it comes to relationships, you can't tweak things until they become the best … more often than not, things end up breaking, which was pretty obvious in my last relationship.

So what's there to do in life when you're in a situation where you are with someone else that you
may probably love? Do you shower him devotion and self-sacrifice? Do you buy him many things and surround him with physical objects of sentimentality? Do you spend every waking moment with him and attend to his wants and needs followed by physical sweet nothings?

I used to believe in all those things, making a near-career out of giving the right advice for the right people at the right moments. But then comes a point where you realize that if you want a relationship to last, if you want to know what really works in the end … the best thing you could ever do when you're in a relationship is by taking it easy and doing what makes the most sense to you and the person you love (or
may probably love).

The thing is, when you have reached a level of experience that comes with having a certain amount of relationships or heartbreaks, you're entitled to the reality that there are no rules of engagement in a relationship. What works for some people may never work on others and vice versa. You can't preplan nor can you predict and anticipate what may happen throughout the course of your relationship with a person because life and love is just too unpredictable for that.

The best you can do though is to take everything as they come … or in other words … leave everything in God's hands and just deal with what comes right ahead of you. Then again, most of the men I involve myself with, were never really the religious type. More to the point, he's a firm believer of the good brew on a hot day. So at the end of it, it comes down to this:

"Love is just another cold beer on the front porch, it cools you down on a hot day, washes all your worries away and sometimes you feel like anything is possible; but don't drink it too fast, otherwise what's left is an empty can to throw away and a bitter taste in your mouth"

Word of the Day.

Just so you know...

Anhedonia - is the inability to experience pleasure from normal life events, such as eating, exercise or social/sexual interaction.

Kindness begets kindness.

Sometimes...no, wait make that every time...kindness and love is its own rewards.I only hope that life would put me into paths by which I, too, can be kind and I hope I would choose kindness in that moment. This is a video of a firefighter who saved a baby 40 years ago. She (the baby) has been looking for him just to say thank you. He's white, she's black. But that doesn't matter ... all that mattered was that he saved her and she remembered. It is an emotional video that will touch your hearts and raise your spirits. Something we could all use at a time like this.

Miss-Fit.

Sometimes I really do think I was born in the wrong era. I yearn to be a heroine in a Jane Austen novel. Fastened into a corset, wrapped up in yards of silk and a bonnet- clutching a finely written love letter from a lover on an adventure, but aching to return to me.

But I was born in the 70’s. Meaning, that the majority of my adult ‘love letters’ have come in the form of emails. I know this is partly my fault (I tend to email people before calling, or actually- gasp!- seeing them), but today while I embarked on the dreaded tasks of cleaning up my email account, I couldn’t help but feel sad about it all.

My grandkids will not inherit dusty stacks of ink stained declarations of love wrapped up in faded ribbon. There will be no discoveries of who I loved at 18 years, or 22 or 25. There will be no tangible evidence of the loves I’ve held and the loves I’ve lost. And in ways that I’m sure I will articulate better when I’m older, this makes me feel like I’ve done a disservice- not only to those I would want to share the letters with, but to myself.

As I allowed myself a bumpy trip down memory lane re-reading all the emails that I’ve amassed over the years, I found myself surprised at what I found. I had forgotten how lovely love could be. How earnest a man in love could sound, what surprises could unfold when I clicked to open an email. I found words that made me cry, words that made me laugh- words that took me back to a time when I felt smarter, but was far more foolish. I found words so… bare, so private I felt like an intruder reading them, though they were addressed to me. I found myself wistful- not for the man, but for the moment when a few short sentences would say everything I needed and wished to hear.

I poured myself a drink and sat back, staring at pages and pages of sweet notes crammed with inside jokes, long letters filled with promises of things to come and messages short on punctuation but long on thought. I realized that if I wanted to, I could print each one out, wrap them tightly and store them away, computer print-outs on pristine white paper never touched by anyone but me. Or I could let them sit in my inbox, a reminder of what is over. Or, I could delete them all, and start new. And promise myself that my next great love would be given a pen.

I deleted them all. I deserve the dusty stacks, touched by his hands as well as mine. I want that. And I know one day, my grandkids will too.

I’m off to find a bonnet.

Choc cake in a Mug

I ran across this recipe while surfing, and I thought it might be worth a try…

"Grab the biggest microwavable coffee mug you’ve got in your cupboard, and cover the inside with cooking spray. Mix up four tablespoons of flour and nine tablespoons of hot chocolate mix, then throw in three tablespoons of water, three tablespoons of oil and one egg. Once it’s thoroughly mixed into an even batter, microwave the whole thang for three minutes on high."

I Miss You.

Three simple words.

I have never realised how poignant each of these words are - and how beautiful they sound when they come together.

Until now.

Profound in its simplicity indeed.

The 3 little words mean - at a particular point in time, someone actually stopped whatever he/she has been doing, and took a special moment to savour your presence in his/her heart.

The thought may be fleeting like a comet, but it leaves a sensational trail.

And knowing that you have just been on someone's mind, at a unique moment in time, is exceptionally touching.

Thank you for thinking about me.

I miss you too.

70% Catwoman

You Are: 30% Dog, 70% Cat

You and cats have a lot in common.

You're both smart and in charge - with a good amount of attitude.

However, you do have a very playful side that occasionally comes out!

I'm a Glazed Doughnut! (it's a sign from above)

You Are a Glazed Donut

Okay, you know that you're plain - and you're cool with that.

You prefer not to let anything distract from your sweetness.

Your appeal is understated yet universal. Everyone dig you.

And in a pinch, you'll probably get eaten.

What do you think?

I love little personality tests.

This one really cracked me up. It was written by Freud and I'm not his biggest fan, but my results were surprisingly accurate.Interested?

Write down or think of your answers- you don't need to post them in the comments as you may be a little embarrassed by them. Don't over-think your answers. Just list whatever comes to mind.

What is your favorite color? (If you don't have one, pick the first one that comes to mind) List 5 adjectives to describe the color (eg. red=powerful)

What is your favorite animal (or first that comes to mind)? List 5 adjectives to describe it. (eg. tiger=ferocious)

What is your favorite body of water (or first that comes to mind)? List 5 adjectives to describe it. (eg. river=fast)

Lastly, picture yourself in a dark room with no windows or doors. You notice there is a light coming through a small hole in the wall. How do you react to the light?

I'll post the answers in the comments section.

Spring is here.

Today is the Vernal Equinox.

That means the Sun will cross directly over the Earth's equator giving us an exactly equal day and night.
From here on out the days will start getting longer than the nights.

Life is pretty twisted...

The people you think you are immune to, the ones whom you think can't affect you anymore...

They're still the ones that find a way to hurt you the most...

2008 - A leap year.

So did you know that February 29th is also known as bissextile day. Really, go look it up.

The story of how a leap year comes about is all about us Earthians rotating around the Sun, and generally taking 6 hours longer than we should. So that 6 unaccountable hours each year kinda accumulates at the end of every 4 years, giving us an extra 24hours/one day. But the question is, why did they not add it to April, June or September or even November is beyond me. I probably might have learnt of this reason in Science class, but that info sort of escapes me at the moment.

Did you also know that in the 19th century, this would be THE day for the women to get down on bended knees, proposing marriage to their beloved. Also a person who is born on Feb 29th, is known as a leapling.

Really, all this is just useless trivia. Yes sir, I AM mocking you.

I think, therefore...

Life is unpredictable as we know it. We almost know how it will turn out, but we can't be a hundred percent certain of it.
