So I Caved In....

People have asked me if I was on Twitter. "No," I would say, "I barely have time to blog let alone twit, or tweet, or twat, or whatever those people are calling it these days."

But ... as you can probably guess, I've finally caved. I only have 12 followers so far, so yes, it's a fairly exclusive club.

I have no idea how it even works or how long I'll be using it before I decide I've had enough, but if you feel like it, join up or sign up or follow me around or whatever you call it. I am asking you this mostly because I don't know if I can keep thinking shit up for 12 people, no matter how awesome and ahead of the curve they are.

Tell your friends. Originally I was thinking your real, live friends and not your Facebook friends, but OK, you can tell your Facebook friends, too.

I should hang a banner up there that says, "Don't Expect Too Much."

I'll try to deliver at least that. Thanks!

Away from My Desk

I'm away for a few days; blogging will be on the light side. Cheers.

Missed Opportunities.

I just came back from a job interview. It's a job I'm perfectly qualified for, with just the right mix of logistics, writing and other responsibilities. Amazingly enough, the person who interviewed me happens to know me as I am currently managing her company's corporate account in my present situation, and can ask a variety of people for character references (including her husband).

And yet, I think I blew it...I can't point to any one moment in particular; we talked for nearly an hour about a variety of things, job scope, current events, work culture, even some after hours activities, but the minute I walked out of the interview room, I felt like hitting my head against the wall, "Damn!" It didn't feel like the interview ever got into a good rhythm, I didn't think I sold enough good examples of my work, and I definitely didn't tell nearly enough stories tooting my own horn.

People say you're always hardest on yourself, and maybe its true. Perhaps I am just melodramatic, but I don't generally leave a situation feeling like that, which is what scares me.

I guess I can't do anything at this point but cross my fingers, and hope for the best.

I hate first impressions...

Looking Back

Medium rare. That's how I like my steak. And ironically, that's how I have been feeling, sufficiently chargrilled on the outside, whilst still rather raw in the inside. Emotions, like flavors, bursting to get out. It's all I can do to put up a tough facade, when I'm literally bleeding inside.

I deleted two years' worth of archived posts with the intention of starting on a painfully fresh chapter for 2008. No more soppy rantings on how the one true love didn't work out for me, or how my best friend betrayed my trust, or how hard my life is compared to so-and-so-and-so what.

Stepping out with my head up high, I aim to conquer the new year. According to my handy little Feng Shui book (X'mas gift courtesy of the one who shall not be named) Lilian Too has predicted
that I will have a good year. Scepticism aside, I endeavor to make the best of what life has to offer me; after all, I have this vision of Kobe beef - medium rare - with a side dish of gravy that will surely be the perfect accompaniment to the perfect dinner. And that is how life should be viewed as; a rare treat with a dash of adventure (optional).
